Nicholas Lester
Baritone
In February 2008, Nicholas Lester sang the part of Devilshoof, Chief of the Gypsies, in the Opera South production of The Bohemian Girl; in 2007, he covered the role of Sergeant Belcore in The Elixir of Love, and sang at the Opera South Soirée Music on a Summer’s Evening.
Nicholas Lester was born in Australia and is now resident in the UK. He studied at the Adelaide Conservatorium of Music and now studies with Raymond Connell and Ludmilla Andrew.
On the concert platform, Nicholas has performed the Messiah, Elijah, Bach Cantatas and Rameau Motets.
His opera roles have included Don Alfonso in Cosi fan tutte, Speaker in The Magic Flute & , Paris in Romeo et Juliette (British Youth Opera), Antonio in The Marriage of Figaro, Pasha Selim in The Seraglio (English Touring Opera), Leporello in Don Giovanni Jerwood Scenes (Glyndebourne Festival Opera), Theseus in A Midsummer NightL’s Dream, Kagler in Wiener Blut, Colonel Calverly in Patience, Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance, Sir Joseph Porter in HMS Pinafore, Marcello in La bohème Fiorello & Officer in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, FloraL’s servant in La traviata (Opera Holland Park )St Brioche in The Merry Widow, The Notary in Don Pasquale and Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas.
Other roles include Onegin in Eugene Onegin, 2nd Prisoner in Fidelio, Miguel in Betrothal in a Monastery, and Pietro in Simon Boccanegra.
